RUTHRAUFF | SAUER RECEIVES SEAGATE'S BEST IN CLASS SUPPLIER AWARD 2002

On Friday June 21, 2002 Ruthrauff | Sauer Inc was invited to Seagate's Annual Facilities Forum Meeting held at their new Research Center in Pittsburgh and attended by all of Seagate's Facilities Managers from around the world. At this meeting Corporate Vice President of Facilities, Jeff Nelson, presented Ruthrauff | Sauer with Seagate's Best In Class Supplier Award for fiscal year 2002. This is the highest award that Seagate gives out to vendors or suppliers; only a chosen few receive this award. Seagate has given out three of these awards in the past few years to other vendors and only one in the year 2002, to Ruthrauff | Sauer Inc. Seagate has an intense scoring system used by their purchasing and facilities department to rate each and every supplier and vendor from around the world. And considering that Seagate has facilities in 38 locations in the United States with another 49 worldwide, we at Ruthrauff | Sauer Inc. are extremely honored to receive this prestigious award.

Since Seagate's arrival in Pittsburgh in 1999 Ruthrauff | Sauer Inc. has self performed all of the mechanical work for their local facilities. Starting with the construction of the 15,000 sq. ft. class 100 clean room at the River Park Commons facility on the South Side and continuing at their new 200,000 sq. ft. world-class research facility in the Strip District. This new facility has state of the art offices, a 265-seat auditorium, 24,000 sq. ft of research labs, and 30,000 sq.ft. of class 100 /class 10 clean rooms. The interior environment of this facility is very complex and presented Ruthrauff | Sauer with many challenges. Through education and major capital investment Ruthrauff | Sauer has stepped to the forefront of this highly technical field. Ruthrauff | Sauer's scope of work included the installation of all HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, high purity process piping systems, specialty exhaust systems, waste water treatment, and a state of the art building control system which was both designed and installed by Ruthrauff | Sauer's own technology division.

One of the more complex portions of this project was the challenge to relocate millions of dollars worth of research equipment and tools from the South Side location to their new building in the Strip. These high tech and highly sensitive pieces of equipment, some of which had weights greater than 15,000 pounds, required very special care in moving. The equipment had to be moved in controlled environments with cleanliness, temperature, humidity, and vibration being controlled under strict parameters. The rigging and transportation of this equipment was performed by Ruthrauff | Sauer's expert labor force and completed on time and on budget.

Ruthrauff | Sauer was chosen by Seagate to provide 7-day, 24-hour services to keep these complex systems operating at their peak efficiency. Ruthrauff | Sauer was also chosen to provide maintenance of the temperature control system, waste water treatment system, and was awarded Seagate's "Vendor of Choice" contract for on going tooling installations in their facility for five years.
